Home » Biafo & Hispar Glaciers Snow Lake Trek
The adventurers’ playground is Pakistan. Apart from the snow lands of the two poles, the Biafo & Hispar Glaciers Snow Lake Trek are among the longest. Together, the two glaciers form the longest glacial passage in the world, linking Baltistan with the former mountain kingdoms of Hunza and Nager. A little used wilderness trail with pristine campsites has excellent potential for spring skiing and summer backpacking. The walk may begin at Hispar in Nager or Askoli in Baltistan. We set out from Askoli and hike along the Biafo Glacier until we reach Snow Lake, a vast bowl of snow that has an area of 77 square kilometres. The depth has been measured by geologists and other professionals.
Trekking paths lead to Nagar, Central Hunza, and Shimshal from the enormous snow and ice-covered plateau known as Hispar Pass. Trekkers still have to traverse multiple glacier tails coming down from the mountains after passing through the Hispar La (Hispar Pass), which is located at an elevation of 5151m (16,998ft). The green and pleasant campsite before reaching Nagar and continuing on to the Hunza Valley is the reward for this effort. Numerous tales about this difficult voyage reveal the cultural ties between the Baltis of the former Shigar state and the Burusho of Hunza and Nager. The Biafo and Hispar Glaciers Snow Lake Trek is a popular trekking route in Pakistan. It offers a stunning view of the Biafo & Hispar Glaciers, which are two of the longest glaciers in the world outside the polar regions. The trek culminates at the Snow Lake, a high-altitude glacial basin known for its breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys. The trek is a challenging but rewarding adventure for those who love nature and want to experience the rugged beauty of the Karakoram range.
